The Control4® home automation platform is changing, and one of the biggest changes is Control4 Version 1.8 move from Embernet™ to ZigBee PRO™ mesh networking. Along with the benefits of improved functionality, stability, and scalability there are some ZigBee challenges, too.
For over three years, Control4 Dealers have relied on Card Access™ to improve mesh networking performance. The Card Access ZigBee PRO Extender solves many new ZigBee PRO challenges including:
- Dealing with new “parent-child” device ratios and “routing” vs. “non-routing” nodes
- Solving mesh network “dead spots”
- Increasing the size or density of the ZigBee mesh
It incorporates Card Access ZigBee Extender Technology to act as a routing node in Control4 ZigBee PRO mesh networks.
Product Details
The Card Access ZigBee PRO Extender is identical in form and function to the Wireless Contact Relay - External Antenna Version (Part Number: WCS10-R-EXT-ZP). All of the relay functions are available for use with the Card Access ZigBee PRO Extender; however, you do NOT need to use the relay features to get ZigBee Extender functionality. It also uses the Card Access WCS10-R driver in Composer, so you don’t need to download any drivers to get it installed.
This separate SKU helps dealers (and purchasing personnel) avoid confusion by simply ordering the exact product needed to solve ZigBee PRO mesh network issues.
Specifications
The Card Access ZigBee PRO Extender is water resistant, compact, and installs easily. It operates on any low voltage AC or DC power source ranging from 9 to 24 volts. A 12V DC power adapter is included with units shipped in the United States and Canada. It is ONLY compatible with Control4 version 1.8 or greater (ZigBee PRO only).
Each Card Access ZigBee PRO Extender includes the following:
- One (1) ZigBee PRO Extender device
- One (1) North American 12V DC Power Supply
- Four (4) wall mounting screws
- Four (4) plastic dry wall anchors
- Installation Guide / Product Warranty / Product Registration document
